Osa Johnson: Queen of the Jungle

A mini documentary about two of the world's earliest filmmakers that were forgotten by time.

“Osa Johnson: Queen of the Jungle” is a mini-documentary I made in close partnership with the Martin + Osa Johnson Safari Museum in my hometown of Chanute, KS! With this being my first time dipping my toes into the world of documentary filmmaking, I couldn’t think of two better subjects to focus on. I had the pleasure of sifting through countless hours of their old footage to tell their story. Our hope with this project was to help bring their stories of exploration and education back to life.

They were the first people to shoot sound film in Africa, the first couple featured on a Wheaties box, and they were born right here in Kansas. These two helped pioneer what it means to be a wildlife videographer and documentarian. I hope you enjoy their story and remember their names the same as I do.
